Molto Bene! Cinque Terre | GAMING TREND

http://gamingtrend.com/reviews/molto-bene-cinque-terre/

Along a sun-drenched swath of the Italian Riviera lay the Cinque Terre, five towns resisting the temptations of progress in favor of a brand of life resembling the local vintage wines so patiently aged. Given birth more than a thousand years ago by farmers driven from their family lands to steep cliffs rising inaccessibly from the sea, the villages of the Cinque Terre are only recently discovered…

Rock your guitar chops -- Bandfuse: Rock Legends | GAMING TREND

http://gamingtrend.com/reviews/got-chops-bandfuse-rock-legends/

Put away your plastic toy guitars. After Rocksmith showed us that it could be done two years ago, rhythm games with real instruments are all the rage. The newest on the scene is BandFuse: Rock Legends, a game that seeks to connect with your inner wannabe-rockstar, whether you’re a guitarist, bassist, singer, or all of the above. Its direct competition — Rocksmith 2014 — may be a better learning t…

Worker placement games are very hit and miss for me. Sometimes they grab my attention, but others I have a problem getting into. For instance, many gamers love Agricola and consider it to be one the best worker placement games available. For me, each game feels too similar to loft it to such high pedestals. A worker placement game that I really enjoy came from a surprising source, Wizards of the …

There’s a lot to be said about Forza Motorsport 5, and not all of it good. Well, Turn 10 Studios is listening, and they’re pushing out updates that should hit the market shortly. In fact, the update is currently going through certification, so we shouldn’t have too long to wait. Rather than having to read the entire week in review post, we’ve summarized  the highlights of the upcoming update belo…

If there is one emotion that games can capture better than any other medium, it is wonder. What does that button do? Where do I go now? What happens if go this way? That sense of awe and delighted confusion as a player wander through a world she doesn’t quite understand–but a world she desperately wants to learn more about. Braid was wonderful. Limbo and Fez were wonderful. Telsagrad is wonderful.

Pop Cap has unveiled a new gameplay video for their upcoming experiment entitled “Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare.” Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare was originally shown back at E3 and immediately garnered everyone’s attention. While the Plants vs. Zombies games were obviously beloved by many, it was clear that the franchise needed a face lift. Instead, Pop Cap went crazy and just gave it a wh…

They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day. I have a feeling that neither were their roads. With Rome being a major port for trade and culture, the reach of Rome spread much further beyond the city’s limits. Rome conquered Brundisium and became another naval port for the Roman Empire. The two cities were connected by the Via Appia and Via Traiana. The game Via Appia is about building that road betw…

Getting together and playing video games with your friends is tough these days.  Games are getting packed with more and more online features, leaving everyone who wants to sit next to their buddies and just plug and play are stuck on the sidelines.  It seems our only hope of local co-op is to look to smaller developers’ titles, such as Tiny Brains from Spearhead Games, which attempts to satisfy t…

Good morrow, everyone. You have stumbled upon a gentlemanly discussion of the year that was. The year that brought us new interactive entertainments, and new consoles on which to play them. The year that brought us introspective exploration of our community as a whole. The year that brought us games that could have spent a few more fortnights preparing for their big gala releases. And of course, …

If you have seen my review of BattleCON: Devastation of Indines, then you know that I thought highly of it.  It’s a unique concept, and it is from a small publisher, Level 99 Games.  Now they have a unique worker-placement game currently up on Kickstarter called Argent.  I recently asked eight questions to D. Brad Talton, the creator of the Indines universe, to find out more about Argent and his …

Ryse: Son of Rome was originally announced in 2010 as Codename: Kingdoms, and was slated to be a Kinect game for the Xbox 360. As the game developed, Microsoft likely realized that the Crytek-built title would fill the cinematic gameplay in their upcoming Xbox One launch lineup. While the Kinect content has been vastly reduced, could Ryse: Son of Rome deliver the gladiator combat title we’ve been…
